About Decision Science
Sitting within our Risk function, Decision Science is a centre of excellence for analytics, modelling and customer insights.
We work with data that underpins vital business and customer decisions, and together we make it possible to add customer value, control risk, and help to build a safe, strong bank for our customers.
We use leading edge analytical tools and techniques to transform the wealth of data available across the group into compelling stories and solutions to inform business actions, so that the Bank can best support customers and the wider UK economy.

The role
This role has been designed with the intention of attracting and developing talented people who represent the society we serve to be our future Risk Modellers.
Working as part of a team you’ll learn and develop knowledge on delivery of statistical modelling solutions to drive decision making across Risk. In this role you'll:
  • Think about data differently, using it to really understand customer behaviour and credit performance and to tell a story to the business in order to influence decision making.
  • Build relationships with business partners across the organisation to understand requirements and develop effective modelling and analytical solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of the Decision Science team, sharing learning and knowledge and participating in team initiatives to build a positive team culture.

We're looking for people who are:
  • Comfortable working with numbers and have either a degree with elements of statistical, data analytics, and problem solving elements or equivalent quantitative experience gained in previous roles
  • Curiosity about learning programming languages (e.g., SAS, SQL, Python) to manipulate data. We'll provide you with the vital training
  • Analytical problem solvers, who are able to work creatively with data and who are methodical in solving problems
  • Effective communicators who are well organised and with good time-management skills.
  • Proactive in progressing their own personal development and collaborating with others to improve the culture of the wider team

Location
Hybrid working means we can be flexible, working between home and a minimum of 2 days a week from one of our main hub offices (London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Leeds). Please indicate your location preference in your application.
